This was the first episode I did with Josh Gates on his popular TV show Expedition Unknown. I was flown to the Caribbean to be on location for filming. The photo shows Josh Gates, the production team and myself on location. This was the episode on the famous pirate Captain Kidd and his legendary pirate treasure. I was initially contacted by Debra Padrick of Warner Brothers Pictures to provide some material for hit movie Fool's Gold featuring Matthew McConaughey, Kate Hudson and Donald Sutherland. It was an honor to assist in any way that I could with this great movie. Debra also reached out to me for information about the fabled "Queen's Jewels" - these are a fabulous collection of rare custom made jewelry and treasure that were to be a gift from the King of Spain to his new bride Isabella Farnese, the Duchess of Parma. This famous treasure was lost when the 1715 Treasure Fleet - which was carrying the treasure sank off the coast of Florida.
I was asked to come back to do another episode of the popular TV show Expedition Unknown on the Discovery Channel, of course I said - Yes. The episode was on the notorious pirate Jean Lafitte and his pirate treasure. The photo is a "behind the scenes" photo with me on the left, a cameraman in costume and Josh Gates on the right. I was contacted by one of the producers of the popular TV show, UnExplained, hosted by William Shatner and which is presented by The History Channel. They asked me to be a part of the show and of course I said, "Yes". As a kid I grew up watching William Shatner on the TV show. Star Treck. I was very excited to be a part of his hit TV show. At this point in time I can't say anything until the episode airs on TV but if you like pirates and treasure, you will like this episode!
In this video we were filming for television and diving at Shark Canyon. Of course, the production team felt that there wasn't enough sharks, so they started adding blood and dead fish to the water to get more sharks - which they did. In the video you can see all the sharks swimming around me, some circling me, and right next to me. I actually wanted to start petting them - yes pretty stupid of me (LoL). These are some great videos and photos of one of my expeditions where we recovered a lot of Sunken Treasure! In the photo you can see me holding an oxidized silver coin. Pure silver coins oxidize quickly in the ocean and take on an almost black color. However, once they are cleaned, they get back their lustrous silver shine.
